USB Extensions

The Adnaco S3B USB 3.0 over Fiber Optic Extension System extends native USB 3.0 connectivity over fiber optic cable using Adnaco's proven PCI Express over Fiber Optic technology. By extending the computer's PCI Express bus to a remote unit equipped with a standard Texas Instruments TUSB7320 USB 3.0 host controller, the S3B provides transparent USB operation with no protocol conversion, software modifications, or custom drivers.

The system features two USB 3.0 ports, each fully compliant with the USB 3.0 specification and supporting SuperSpeed (5.0 Gb/s), High-Speed (480 Mb/s), Full-Speed (12 Mb/s), and Low-Speed (1.5 Mb/s) USB devices. Because the remote unit functions as a native USB host controller, connected devices operate exactly as if they were connected directly to the host computer.

Communication between the local and remote units is carried over a single PCIe Gen2 x1 lane (5.0 GT/s) using standard LC-LC fiber optic cabling and industry-standard pluggable SFP+ transceivers, enabling reliable long-distance USB connectivity while providing complete electrical isolation from the host system.

Designed for industrial, scientific, medical, and embedded applications, the S3B supports a wide range of operating systems, including Windows®, Linux®, and VxWorks®, and can be configured with industrial-grade transceivers supporting operating temperatures from –40°C to +85°C.
